Annual End of Year Picnic

is the date for our last Member Activity ending the year with a Bar-B-Q Picnic.

The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April to September.  Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to 9:30 PM.

This year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ located at 1080 East La Salle Street.  This is at the west end of Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

Enter through the east door on the north side of the church.

Club Minutes from September 11th, 2014

Pikes Peak Water Garden Society

September Club Member Meeting

There were 19 members present.

The September meeting was held at Mountain View Church of Christ in Colorado Springs CO.

Bob Oatman passed out a handout that he had written on “Preparing Your Pond for Winter”

Dick Throckmorton called the meeting to order at 7:15PM welcoming everyone.

Cheri Richardson gave her Treasures Report. We have $2,172.22 in checking and $2,619.23 in savings for a total club funds of $4,791.45.

Bob spoke about the upcoming workshops at The Sacred Hearts Retreat and The Union Printers Home. During this discussion a slideshow photographed and compiled by Michelle Ditto was displayed featuring pictures of each workshop site. It was agreed upon that the workshop volunteers will meet at the Village Inn on North Academy at 7:15am, then carpool up to Sacred Hearts.

The October meeting (Picnic) was discussed asking for people to sign up if they plan to attend and to bring a desert to share.

Nominations for Board Members was opened. Three Board Members terms are expiring this year. That Includes Dick, Cheri, and Jean. Cheri had previously accepted a nomination. Dick was nominated and tentatively accepted the nomination. Leaving one position still open. It was motioned and accepted that the election of officers be delayed until the October meeting.

Bev Kratzer introduced herself as the “Plant Lady” and led a discussion on how to care for your plants over the winter.

Bob Oatman led a discussion and presented a Power Point on “Winter Water Quality”.

Tom Taylor then led a discussion of many different suggestions about how to care for your fish and pond over the winter.

Michelle Ditto had prepared a presentation on “Pond Covers”, but the projector seemed to overheat and it shut down. Since it was getting late anyway this topic was dropped.

Door Prizes were drawn and won as follows; Lanell Williams – Clay Ball,
Bob Oatman – Owl Statue, Sheri Barger – Butterfly Pot, Bev Kratzer- Lady Buda Statue.

Meeting Adjourned at 9:20PM.
