The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society has two demonstration ponds in the Pikes Peak region. These two ponds are used by the PPWGS as training workshop ponds. New members or persons with an interest in the society or building a pond of their own are invited to attend.
In the spring the annual cleaning will be done. During this workshop experienced PPWGS members will be on hand to explain how to clean a pond after the winter ice has thawed. Spring is also the time to divide hardy water lilies and marginal plants. Get your hands in the dirt and find out that water plants are a lot like garden plants. They have roots, shoots, growing points and fertilizer needs. Find out the unique requirements so your water plants at home will benefit.
In the fall the annual lily sinking will be done. During this workshop experienced PPWGS members will be on hand to explain how to get a water garden ready for the winter freeze. Fish and plants all have requirements that need to be fulfilled for maximum survival rates while the ice and snow have a grip on the water. Do not allow your valuable water garden plants to die from your lack of knowledge.
