Jerry Hunter gave a very enlightening presentation on Koi health. He explained that he cannot recommend any form of treatment because he is not a Licensed Vet, but he can say “if this were my fish this is what I’d do”. Tom passed out two handouts – “Koi Health References” and “All fish cases are handled identically”. Both Tom and Jerry expanded on the handouts covering a variety of fish issues, drugs and web sites for information. Jerry suggest that performing a 10% water change each week is very beneficial for you fish. Jerry also suggested performing a Salt Dip on all new fish before putting them in your pond. This will kill any external parasites that might be present. Whenever you notice a problem with how your fish are acting always check your PH, Ammonia and Nitrite levels.
Tom mentioned an upcoming Koi Show in Denver.
Door Prises were given out as follows: Phil Goulding – Basket, Tony D’Amico – Woven Fish, Lynell Williams – Bell, Kay Jackson – Head Bust, Ida Fraser – Turtle, Marty Bunker – Book, John Jackson – Book.
