Meeting Minutes

Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
June Club Member Meeting
13 June, 2013

June’s club meeting was opened by President Dick Throckmorton at 7:15PM at Mt. View Church of Christ.

There were 23 members present at this month’s meeting.

Cheri was unable to attend, so Dick presented the treasurers report. We have $1,981.50 in checking, and $2,615.73 in savings for total club funds of $4,597.45.

Dick announced that the next board meeting will be June 18th, and that anyone is invited to attend.

Bev Kratzer presented the results of the plant sale. We cleared $1207.07 profit. She suggested that we plan on closing the plant sale at noon next year, because very few customers came after that time. She also volunteered to coordinate the plant sale again next year.

Dick discussed that Koi Auction which we will be having at the July meeting. Mark Wittrup will be coordinating it. Bob Oatman mentioned that at this year’s Koi Auction we were thinking of having a raffle for one of the Koi. We would sell raffle tickets for $5 each and the winner will be allowed to pick one Koi from all the Koi up for auction. Most of the members that were present felt that this was a good idea, and several hands went up when Dick asked “Who would purchase a raffle ticket”.

Dick then discussed the pond tour. At this point we only have 2 ponds which have signed up to be on the tour and we still need a coordinator.

Dick mentioned the paid advertisers we have in the newsletter.

Bob mentioned that if anyone hears of anyone in Black Forest who needs help with their pond, to get in touch with a board member. We have tanks that we could temporarily house fish and would be will to help in any way we can.

Dick then introduced Dean Lind who presented a very interesting presentation about Aquaponics.

Door prizes were then drawn. Greg Gutierrez – Gold Fish Crackers, Bev Kratzer – Bird House, Katherine Jackson- Bird House, Cathy Wittrup- Wind Chime, Bob Oatman – Plant, Dean Lind – Pot.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Bob Oatman
