Meeting Minutes

Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
August Club Member Meeting
09 Aug, 2012

August’s club meeting was opened by President Ron Bissonnette at 7:30PM at Mt. View Church of Christ.

There were 21 members present at this month’s meeting.

Dick Throckmorton gave the financial report. The club had $666.00 in total deposits and $719.99 in expenses, leaving $2481.17 in checking. The clubs saving account had $.26 in deposits and $0 in withdrawals, leaving $3113.43 in saving. The clubs available total funds are $5594.60. The Financial Statement is available for all members to review.

Tom Taylor made a quick statement about the Rocky Mountain Koi Clubs Koi Show. This FREE annual Koi show will be held on August 18th and 19th at the Tagawa Garden Center. This is a great opportunity to learn what makes one fish preferred over another. A number of vendors will be on hand to tell you about the latest in pond and filtration design, pond care and fish care. Steve said that he would send out an email about the show.

Bob Oatman thanked everyone that presented their ponds on the pond tour. He also stated that he heard that about 150 people total visited each person’s ponds.

Bev Kratzer suggested that we create a Facebook page for the Water Garden Society. Steve Carson said that we already have one, and that if you search for “Pikes Peak Water Garden Society” you can find it and like it.

Ron discussed board nominations and that we are now looking for nominations.
Tom Taylor nominated that we open the floor for nominations.
Bob Oatman nominated Steve Carson who declined.
Steve Carson nominated Dick Throckmorton who said OK but that he preferred we nominate someone new.
Steve Carson nominated Ron Bissonnette who said that he would hold off on accepting.
Steve Carson nominated Robert Lammon who declined.
Tom Taylor nominated Loren Yukawa who declined.
The nominations were then closed. If you wish to join the board or nominated someone else this can be done at the next meeting. If you have any questions regarding becoming a member of the board, ask any board member.

Ron then presented a power point of pictures from the pond tour, various filters and his pond.

Steve Carson presented a series of statistics about the PPWGS website. We generally have a spike in traffic in July due to the pond tour, but did not see that spike this year. We still had 52,000 hits (individual page displays) in July. He stated that the website is still paying for itself in that we don’t have to print very many pond tour maps. He also discussed various aspects of the site. Bev Kratzer suggested that we should attempt to get a link to our website placed on other vendor’s websites.

The door prizes were then drawn. Robert Lammon won Koi food, Larry Fenton won Koi food, Lynn Rozema won fertilizer tabs, and Bob Oatman won fertilizer tabs.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Bob Oatman
Secretary
