Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
April’ Club Member Meeting
12 April, 2012

April’s club meeting was opened by President Ron Bissonette at 7:10PM at Mt. View Church of Christ. He noted that we are still in need for plant sale and pond tour coordinators.

There were 64 members present at this month’s meeting.

Dick Throckmorton gave the financial report to members. The club had $800 in total deposits and $2,503.55 in expenses, leaving $446.82 in checking. The clubs saving account had $27.79 in deposits and $400 in withdrawals, leaving $3,112.27 in saving. The clubs available total funds are $3,559.09. The Financial statement is available for all members to review.

Bob Oatman described how we hope to clean the sludge out of the Union Printers pond by utilizing a dumpster. He also asked for volunteers to help clean the pond on April 21st, 2012.

Tom Taylor expanded on Bob’s discussion about the Union Printers pond cleaning and asked for members to bring various tools and supplies. He said that we hoped to perform the lily repotting at the same time, so that we won’t have to have the Spring Workshop that is scheduled for May 12th.

Robert Lammon asked for suggestions for future meeting topics. He then introduced Suzy Oligmueller.

Suzy covered several topics such as spring pond cleaning, re-potting, fertilizing, and arrangement of plants based on color and size. She also described how to make pots out of panty hose and how to make floating rings.

Suzy had brought lots of plants and floating rings which she donated to the club for door prizes. There were several winners of the door prizes, and then everyone who wanted a plant (or two) had one to take home.

Robert Lammon answered general questions while members were selecting plants. He also mentioned that next month’s speaker would be Jerry Hunter and that his topic would be “Koi Health and Spawning”.

The meeting ended at 8:30PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Bob Oatman
