Getting ready for winter

will be our sixth meeting for 2009. Winter will be here soon so you had better get ready. This meeting should give you some ideas on how to prepair you plants and fish for that long winters nap.

The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April to September.  Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to 9:30 PM.

This year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ located at 1080 East La Salle Street.  This is at the west end of Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

Enter through the east door on the north side of the church.

Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
September’s Club Membership Meeting

August’s club meeting was opened by President Ron Bissonnette at 7:30 PM at Mt. View Church of Christ. There were 40 members and two guest speakers at this month’s club meeting.

Greg Gutierrez made an announcement concerning the two fall workshops scheduled for this month. Secrete Heart is scheduled for 12 Sep and Union Printers Home is 19 Sep 09. Members were encouraged to sign-up for these two workshops to help prepare them for the winter.

Ron opened the floor for members to nominate any additional members for the two PPWGS board positions open at the end of this year. There were no additional members nominated. Ron called a motioned to elect Robert Lammon and Dick Throckmorton, nominated last month, to fill the two open positions. Members approved the motion.

Dick Throckmorton was not available to provide members a financial report.

Jim Wullschleger did a presentation on the International Water Garden Society Thailand Symposium. His lecture covered the variety of tropical plants that are grown in Thailand, in and out of pots. He also covered different type of fertilizers that are used to feed these tropicals. His lecture lasted about an hour and 15 minutes.

Ron finished out the night by give a short briefing on winterizing your pond.

The meeting adjourned at 9:15PM.
