Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
July’s Club Membership Meeting
13 August, 2009

August’s club meeting was opened by President Ron Bissonnette at 7:40 PM at Mt. View Church of Christ. There were 46 members at this month’s club meeting.
Ron stated that the pond tour went very well. The overall turn out this year was lighter compare to year’s pat. We are going to look for better ways to advertise the tour without having to pay advertising.
Ron announced that two PPWGS board positions were up for this year’s nominations, Robert Lammon and Dick Throckmorton. He briefed that the new nominations are not necessarily for the positions currently held by these two folks. The current members of the board would decide as to who will fill what positions. The floor was opened for new nominations. Robert Lammon and Dick Throckmorton were nominated by other club members for next month’s elections. Ron mentioned that the club will also accept other nominations at next month’s meeting up till it was time for members to vote.
Dick Throckmorton gave the financial report to members. After deposits from the Koi and payouts for the Koi auction and pond tour expenses, the checking balance was $2066.53. With the checking balance and savings balance of $2067.50, the club’s available funds of $4955.80. The full financial statement is available for all members to review.
This month’s topics were general in nature. Even though it was late in the season for dividing water lilies, Ron showed an outstanding video that demonstrated that process. Greg Gutierrez showed a slide presentation that show how he rebuilt and improved his filter system. There was also some discussion was what methods that can be used to protect your pond/fish from predators and what can be done to help reduce foaming problems in ponds. Ron also showed some slides detailing our websites traffic stats during July.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05PM.
