will be the second meeting for 2009. Jerry Hunter will speak on water quality and is clear water always safe for fish.

The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April to September.  Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to 9:30 PM.

This year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ located at 1080 East La Salle Street.  This is at the west end of Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

Enter through the east door on the north side of the church.

Club Meeting Minutes
April 9, 2009

May’s club meeting was opened by President Ron Bissonnette at 7:35PM at the Mt. View Church of Christ. There were 79 members that attended.
Dick Throckmorton briefed the members of the current financial status for the club. The end balances for checking, savings is $847.23, $2064.64 respectively with a total club funds of $2673.07. The financial statement is available for all club members to review.
Ron brought in a article from the local Gazette newspaper that had a segment about the PPWGS itself and upcoming events planned for this season to include the plant sale and pond tours.
Greg Wise, Board’s Member-at Large thanked all individuals that participated at the Union Printers Home work shop. He briefed members of the upcoming workshops that need support from club, members, Sacred Heart in Sedalia is on 16 May and the Plant Sale workshop is scheduled for 28 May. He also told members that the club has Azoo Growth Plus Koi food for sale. The cost per lbs is $1.38.
The club’s librarian told member that they could on onto checked out books as long as a request for it has not been made.
Steve Carson talked about this year’s 20th Anniversary Pond Tour. The plan is to have 20 ponds, one for each year to celebrate the 20 years of PPWGS existence, over the last two weekends in July. So far we have 6 members signed up. He stated that the club will accept any access plant from members for the upcoming plant sale. The first on-line newsletter winner was Morris and Brigitte Bealmer. They received $20 in cash.
The main guest speaker for tonight’s meeting was Jerry Hunter. He discussed all aspects of water quality and the effects on fish. He went over and demonstrated proper ways to test pond water for Ammonia, Nitrates, Ph, and Carbon harness. Several members brought in water samples from their ponds to be used in the testing.
