Starting up your pond for the season

will be the first meeting of 2008. The focus of the meeting will be starting up your pond for the season and an open forum Q & A to answer questions from members and provide helpful solutions for problems encountered over the winter. Everyone is encouraged to contribute with ideas and solutions. At this meeting there will be a demonstration on plant division. Remember, this first meeting will be a week early due to a scheduling conflict with the church.

The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April to September.  Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to 9:30 PM.

This year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ located at 1080 East La Salle Street.  This is at the west end of Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

Enter through the east door on the north side of the church.

Club Meeting Minutes
3 April, 2008
This year’s first PPWGS Club meeting was opened at 7:40PM by Vice-President Jerry Hunter at Mt. View Church of Christ. Jerry introduced all the current board members to the club members so they know they are.
Mary Buchner gave a financial statement report to the members. The report is available to all members for viewing.
Betty Lou Bissonnette introduced new items the club has to sale to include new T-shirts.
The main subject for the meeting was water garden spring startup to include proper ways to part and transplant plants. Jerry and Ron Bissonnette discussed various subjects such as water temperatures, feeding and so on. Members had numerous questions that generated good discussions. Suzy Oligmueller performed a live demonstration on the proper ways to separate various types of plants and the proper planting techniques.
Steve Carson talked about several things. First was this year’s Pond Tour. We would like to have at least 12 participates sign up. The tour is scheduled for 26 – 27 July 2008. Also, the club is looking for members that would like to donate some of their excess plants for this year’s Plant Sale that is scheduled for 31 May, 2008.
Sarah Garrison brief about the efforts of getting the word out about our club. We will be setting out a newsletter display box at various businesses that are involved in ponds and water gardening. The goal is to educate the public as to what the club does and to encourage folks to join and broaden their knowledge and share their experiences.
