Starting up your pond

The focus of the meeting will be starting up your pond for the season and an open forum Q & A to answer questions from members and provide helpful solutions for problems encountered over the winter. Everyone is encouraged to contribute with ideas and solutions.

The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April to September.  Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to 9:30 PM.

This year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ located at 1080 East La Salle Street.  This is at the west end of Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

Enter through the east door on the north side of the church.

Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
General Club Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2007

Meeting called to order at about 7:45 PM by Bob Pollock, President, at the Mt. View Church of Christ.

Mary presented the treasurer’s report. The Club has $598.95 in checking and $3924.72 in savings; total Club funds of $4523.67.

Betty reported that the new T-shirts and polo shirt are delayed. The printing company is waiting until the polo shirts arrive so that al shirts can be printed at one time without having to reset the printing machine.

Ron gave a brief on membership activities and the upcoming workshops at The Union Printers Home and in Sedalia, as well as the plant sale.

Bob was present with the KOI Person of the Month reward given by Rocky Mountain Koi Pond.

Jerry Hunter is offering his Koi health consultant services to all members of the club for free. Jerry has done expensive research in Koi diseases. He will come to the house, examine the fish, conduct tests and provide treatments on the spot. He can also test all water parameters.

A question and answer session about issues concerning spring start-up of ponds. Information was shared including, but not limited to, algae control using barley straw and other methods, the amount of water changes, what and when to feed the Koi as the water temperature changes, and other spring time issues.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
