Winterizing Questions

will be the sixth and finaly monthly meeting for 2006. This month's meeting focuses on winterizing and members may ask their questions to flush out tips and techniques. Also this month board member nominations for and vote for two members to the PPWGS board.
The
Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April
to October. Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to
9:30 PM.
This
year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ
located at 1080 East La Salle Street. This is at the west end of
Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

General Club Meeting Minutes
September 14, 2006
Meeting called to order at about 7:45 PM by Bob Pollock, President, at the Mt. View Church of Christ.
Dick presented the treasurer’s report. The Club has $721.40 in checking and $6,640.95 in savings; total Club funds of $7,362.35.
Shirts were offered half price
Board elections were held. Two positions were open. Kari Martin was elected to continue to fill the position she was in as a temporary replacement for Jock. Robert Lammon was voted on as the newest board member.
Club members were reminded of, and encouraged to help out at the two upcoming fall workshops at The Union Printers Home and in Sedalia.
Winterizing information was shared including, but not limited to, which plants to compost and which to save; trimming and leaving marginals in place, trimming and lowering to a greater depth the lilies; bringing in sensitive tropicals or treating them as annuals and composting.
Pond covers were described and photographs shown. Various “ice-hole” devices were explained. Window well covers as green house devices were explained. Photos of a variety of heaters were shown and discussed as well as aeration systems.
Pros and cons of salting was discussed as well as salting rates (1 cup/hundred gallons of water).
