Dealing with winter caused problems

will be the first meeting for 2006. The focus of the meeting will be to answer questions from members and provide helpful solutions for problems encountered over the winter and suggestions for getting the pond ready for spring and summer. Everyone is encouraged to contribute with ideas and solutions.

The Pikes Peak Water Garden Society meetings are held every 2nd Thursday from April to September.  Most meetings start at 7:00 PM and wrap up around 9:00 to 9:30 PM.

This year our meetings will once again be held at the Mountain View Church of Christ located at 1080 East La Salle Street.  This is at the west end of Constitution Avenue on the southwest corner.

Enter through the east door on the north side of the church.

General Meeting Minutes
April 13, 2006

Meeting called to order at 7:45 PM by Bob Pollock, President, at the Holy Cross Church.

Dick presented the treasurers report; the clubs total funds were $4,958.05.
LaNell requested that someone else volunteer to do library for a while. She has been the librarian for 11 years.
Betty highlighted the new denim shirts at $22. Also contact her if interested in 44x44 used liner, pump and fish.
Members were urged to save plant cuttings for the Plant Sale. Union Printers home workshop is 5/9; Sedalia workshop is 5/13. All were encouraged to participate. Members were further asked to consider signing up early for the Annual Pond Tour on 7/29, 30.
Ron reported that all new members could get their cards and all cards were printed. Many people have already reaffirmed membership. Also, members can check their own personal info directly on-line now. He also highlighted the rectangular scoop net and described new screen to be installed by next meeting.

Steve introduced himself as webmaster and offered assistance to any who were having trouble accessing their info.

Bob fielded Q & A session. Topics discussed: spring clean-up, adding fresh water, chlorine and chloramines, quarantine of new fish, basic quarantine tanks, benefit of “sacrificial” fish, heron watch, use of salt and/or aloe vera, goldfish spawning, seeding filters, auto-fill systems, evaporation rates, etc. Announcement was made regarding donation of used items for sale from the estate of Ray Delacroce.
