Meeting Minutes

Pikes Peak Water Garden Society
May Club Member Meeting Minutes from May 10th, 2018 at 6:30PM
The meeting was held at Mountain View Church of Christ in Colorado Springs CO.
There were 34 people in attendance.
Bob Oatman opened the meeting at 7:05.
Bob welcomed everyone to the second meeting of 2018 and asked the new faces in the crowd to introduce themselves. He then displayed the Board of Directors and the Coordinators for 2018.
Shirley Weaver presented her Treasurer Report. We presently have $1952.36 in Checking and $2684.07 in Savings, and $45 Cash on Hand. That makes total club funds of $4681.43.
The first two workshops of 2018 were discussed. On April 21st only four members showed up for the Union Printers Workshop. Bob then discussed why we do the workshops. Without the Union Printers workshops, we wouldn’t have any lilies to sell or a place to sell them.
On May 5th seven people helped clean and repot the lilies at the Humane Society.
Bob then described his understanding on the Noxious Weeds program. This year Flowering Rush, Giant Salvinia, Parrots Feather, and Purple Loosestrife are on the “A” list. This means that we are not supposed to possess or sell any of these.
Water Hyacinth, Water Lettuce, Yellow Flag Iris, and Yellow Floating Heart were added to the “Watch List”. So, at this point we CAN possess and sell these plants.
Bob then went on to discuss upcoming event such as the plant sale, pond tour, and Koi auction.
Bev Kratzer described the plant sale workshop and what tools to bring.
Bob then introduced Jerry Hunter who gave a very detailed description of the Nitrification Cycle and answered many questions concerning PH, KH, salt, etc.
Door Prizes were then drawn and won by the following; Pat Nelson – Gift card from Hiner Landscaping, Kalea Capps – Water Test kit, Marshall Hiner – Candles, Jack Conroy – Bells.
Our guest speaker at next month’s meeting will be Marshall Hiner.
The meeting was concluded at 9:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Bob Oatman
