Pond Description

The pot lady will greet you as you enter the front yard. Proceed to the east side gate and follow the path past the butterfly garden. Beware the dragon that guards Muggly's tree house. This 4425-gallon pond is home to 22 colorful Koi and new babies from last year's spawn.  There are yellow, pink, and white water lilies, and a family of 5 raccoons. Walk around the pond and smell the roses. See if the old prospector has any gold in his pan. The pond is fed by a waterfall coming out of the old mining shack that houses two biological filters. A bog also serves as a filter fed by the skimmer. The pond is 15 by 20 feet and 3 to 3 1/2 feet deep.  Please enjoy and see if you can spot the Koi with the skeleton face.

Pond Description

Unbeknownst to us when we bought this house 2 yrs ago, there was a filled in pond in the back yard.  Cleaning out the rocks and dirt and eventually being able to fill it with water, has been an exciting and truly worthwhile adventure. Though small, this part of the yard fills us with peace and joy.  The sound of the waterfall, the inhabitant fish, and the plants that are thriving in the rocks, make the arrival of spring and the ensuing months a very special part of our lives.

Pond Description

A stream cascades fourteen feet from under a bridge and ends peacefully in a pond surrounded by lush flowers and greenery. The surrounding landscape is a haven for native birds and butterflies. Water lilies and forget-me-nots enhance the surface of the ten-foot pond. Its three-foot depth and is home to Koi, goldfish, and frogs that entertain those who relax on the park bench nearby. Another bubble pot is tucked under a nearby maple tree to add to the serenity of the yard. For a warm glow at night, the yard and all water features are lit with LED lights. Our 1500-gallon pond and waterfall are filtered by an eco-friendly bio-filter system. The water is filtered by use of mats in a skimmer box and lava rock. The falls and plants also help to provide for the crystal-clear water. Our falls run continuously year around and the water temperature is monitored electronically by in water sensors. Since 1973, our peaceful little backyard has been a work in progress with the waterfall being added in 1998. We love to change or add something new every year. We would enjoy having you visit and relax by our pond while we answer any questions you might have about our water features!

Tadd & Julie Wermers Pond - Saturday & Sunday

View Pond

Pond Description

Tadd and Julie first started their water feature in the summer of 2005 and it has been an ever changing, work in progress since that time. In the summer of 2020, Tadd and several recruited friends and family members embarked on an entire backyard overhaul.  Our 2000-gallon pond with a continuous 75 foot stream was upgraded to two water features.  The upper water fall is a 600-gallon pond-less water feature with a stream starting in our front yard. The second water feature is a shorter stream that drops into our large pool-like pond.   Both water features were designed to look like one continuous stream flowing into the large pond.  We also converted our skimmer filtration system into the intake bay filtration system.  As you meander down beside the stream, you cross two natural stone bridges, multiple waterfalls, 3 pools of water and many natural plants of the Colorado Region. Should you get weary on your way, you can make a stop at our several sitting areas. We hope you enjoy our water feature as much as we do.

Misty & Chris Rigdon's Pond - Saturday & Sunday

View Pond

Pond Description

The Rigdon pond is a brand new pond, opened in May 2021.  Chris began building the pond on Mother's Day 2020 after asking Misty if there was a project she would like him to work on as a Mother's Day gift.  Misty requested a 'small, container water garden for the patio' where she could have some water lilies, water hyacinth and maybe some Japanese Trapdoor Snails.  Chris clearly needed a distraction from Covid lock-down boredom because the project snowballed significantly.  Misty is a gardener and loves to grow things so she wanted a water garden.  Chris was interested in koi and having a pond which could also support a good amount of healthy, happy koi.

The end result is approximately 4000 gallons and employs a Helix Life Support surface skimmer, PVC under gravel filter, and Life Support 8200 pump as well as a 50 sq ft bog/bio filter, Aqua Ultraviolet Ultima II 6000 filter, Aqua Ultraviolet 120Watt UV Sterilizer, and a Helix Bio-mechanical Reactor waterfall basin.

The water garden features as many plants as they could get their hands on to try out and they are still learning what plants work well in different areas of the pond.  Nearly all of the current plants were purchased at the Water Garden Society Plant Sale on June 6, 2021 and planted that weekend.  It was exciting for Misty to finally be able to have water lilies and hyacinth in the pond and the first few weeks were educational--no plants were harmed in the making of the pond--but things really started flourishing and spreading out shortly after 15 koi were added to the ecosystem on July 4, 2021.  Each day brings newly surfaced lily pads and new blooms somewhere in or around the pond and watching the koi has become a daily meditation practice.  The pond also inspired a new zen meditation--or Japanese raking garden--which Chris built adjacent to the pond.

Some other things to explore on this stop include: raised bed vegetable gardens, a strawberry patch, a raspberry patch, grapes, apple trees, a butterfly/pollinator garden, and an alpine rock garden.

Jodi & LC Coffey's Pond - Saturday & Sunday

View Pond

Pond Description

We purchased our home, with its barely viable pond, 15 years ago.  The pond was advertised at 5000 gallons…and employed just about every feature “not recommended“ by local pond experts.  Over the years we've mitigated, resolved, and made-do with most of the issues. Today, the 2500 gallon (12'x 25'x 4' ) plant-friendly pond and 4 foot waterfall is surrounded by five large planters, is home to both 6-12 inch koi and the original 15 y/o feeder goldfish. The rock lined pond has a walk-in bog and a small stream.  Our pond adds peace to our neighborly backyard, and compliments the berry patches, fruit trees, flower & vegetable gardens, and a fire pit area.

We're happy to share our well-shaded retreat. Feel welcome to stop by.
